Following Elon Musk’s statement that electric vehicle pioneer Tesla will build its first European Gigafactory near the new Berlin airport, the premier of the Brandenburg state said, it would be in accordance with EU rules.
“We’re operating within the framework of the European Union’s state aid rules,” said Dietmar Woidke to regional broadcaster rbb. “That applies to all European countries – that’s our framework. We’ll of course do our part to create good conditions for Tesla within these possibilities”.
On Wednesday, Germany’s Economy Minister Peter Altmaier had said, so far there has been no discussion of the German government providing any subsidies to Tesla.
