No concrete or credible proposal received on replacing Irish backstop: Ireland’s Foreign Minister Simon Coveney

Britain is staring at a cliffhanger Brexit.

On Friday, according to a statement from Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney, the British government has yet to make credible and concrete proposals on replacing the mechanism known as the Irish backstop in the Brexit withdrawal agreement.

“We all want to get a deal but, at the moment, nothing credible has come from the UK government in terms of alternatives to the backstop,” said Coveney on arriving for talks with his EU peers in Brussels.
