Trump threatens to tax French wine in response to France’s digital tax

Fighting wars on two fronts is a very risky proposal.

As a response to a French proposal to tax big U.S. tech companies, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to levy a tax against French wine.

On this note it would be prudent to note that fighting wars on two fronts is a very risky proposal. With the U.S.-China trade war seeing an escalation with both sides hitting each other with trade tariffs, a trade war with the EU could lend weight to fears of recession in the United States.

Before leaving for the Group of Seven summit in France, Trump spoke to reporters at the White House and said although he is not a “big fan” of tech companies but “those are great American companies and frankly I don’t want France going out and taxing our companies.”

“And if they do that … we’ll be taxing their wine like they’ve never seen before”.
