China launches anti-dumping probe of meta-Cresol from the U.S., EU and Japan

Meta-Cresol is an organic compound typically extracted from coal tar that is used to make pesticides and other chemical products.

On Monday, China said it has launched an anti-dumping investigation into the import of meta-Cresol, an organic compound typically extracted from coal tar that is used to make pesticides and other chemical products, from the United States, Japan and the European Union.

According to a statement from China’s Ministry of Commerce, the probe comes as a result from a complaint made by domestic manufacturers of meta-Cresol; the investigation will focus from 2016 to 2018.

The investigation could last up to a year and a half, said China’s Ministry of Commerce.
