In the last 7 years Blackstone invested around $1.5 billion into the alliance. As of Friday’s close, its 58% stake in the alliance is worth $8.7 billion.
According to sources familiar with the matter at hand, Blackstone Group Inc is weighing its options to sell its stake in Cheniere Energy Inc.
Its part partnership with the LNG producer lasted 7 years and saw it invest $1.5 billion in the alliance.
According to a report from Bloomberg, the “private equity firm is marketing its stake in Cheniere Energy Partners LP to a small number of infrastructure, pension and sovereign wealth funds”.
According to Refinitiv Eikon data, Blackstone held around 201 million shares, equivalent to a 58% stake in Cheniere Energy Partners, as of March 31.
Based on Friday’s closing, its stake is now worth around $8.7 billion.
With the news reaching the market, Cheniere Energy Partners’s shares were up by about 1.6%.
While Blackstone declined to comment, Cheniere Energy Partners LP did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
