Merger talks are likely to begin in mid-June.

According to a CNBC report citing sources familiar with the matter at hand, the board of CBS Corp is preparing for merger talks with Viacom Inc.

The merger talks between the two companies are expected to start in mid-June, stated the CNBC report while adding that the companies have not yet held discussions.

Neither CBS nor Viacom immediately respond to requests for comments.
