Nissan likely to pushback on having the same chairman as Renault: FT

Given Renault’s stake in Nissan, Jean-Dominique Senard, Renault’s chairman, will be joining Nissan’s board.

On Wednesday, the Financial Times reported citing sources with knowledge of the discussions at hand, Nissan Motor Co Ltd’s independent committee on governance is likely to recommend against having the same chairman as Renault SA.

As per FT’s report, the French state, Renault’s biggest shareholder along with the French carmaker are backing Jean-Dominique Senard for the chairmanship at Nissan Motor.

Senard was appointed chairman of Renault in late January. Given Renault’s 43% stake in the japanese carmaker, he is expected to be named to Nissan’s board.

Nissan has a 15% stake in Renault.

Renault and Nissan were not immediately available for comments.
