The European Union is making headway in its efforts to legally continue economic ties with Tehran.

With U.S. sanctions on Iranian oil coming into force, Tehran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi stated, Iran is in touch with other signatories of the 2015 nuclear accord from which U.S. President Donald Trump withdrew the United States earlier this year.

“We are in regular contact with other signatories of the nuclear deal … setting up mechanism to continue trade with the European Union will take time,” said Qasemi to a weekly news conference in Tehran.
