British departmental stores, House of Fraser, having 56 stores and 2 outlets across the U.K., has proposed the closure of 31 of its stores as part of a restructuring plan.

On Thursday, Britain’s House of Fraser said it has proposed the closing of 31 of its department stores in Britain as part of a strategic restructuring plan.

If it goes ahead with the decision, it will place 6,000 jobs at risk.

The restructuring plan will leave the group with only 28 stores in the U.K.
