Thanks to more business days, car sales are shooting up.
According to industry data published on Thursday, in April car sales in the European Union have shot up by 9.6%, led by Toyota, Hyundai and Ford Motors.
As per Brussels-based ACEA, car registrations in the European Free Trade countries and in the EU have touched 1.349 million cars in April 2018, up from 1.231 million a year earlier.
Thanks to the timing of this year’s Easter holiday, European showrooms were open for more business days last month than they were last year.
Toyota and Hyundai’s sales shot up by 20.3% and 15.3% respectively; Ford’s were up by 14% while Volkswagen Group’s was up by 13.1%.
Renault’s sales jumped by 10% while brand Peugeot registered a rise of 15.3%; the PSA Group’s Citroen posted a rise of 6.9%.
Sales of Fiat Chrysler saw a marginal increase in sales of just 2.3%, under-performing the market thanks to a 4.5% decline at the core Fiat brand.
