Apple drops data centre plans in Ireland

Apple has cited delays in the approval process as the reason for its decision.

On Thursday, Apple stated it will not go ahead with its planned data center in Athenry, Ireland, due to delays in the planning approval process.

In February 2015, Apple had disclosed plans to build a facility in a rural location in the west of Ireland in order to benefit from green energy sources located nearby.

The project however saw delays due to planning objections.
