So as to protect Telecom Italia, Italy’s state lender, CDP, is likely to purchase a stake in the firm to protect its strategic assets.
On Thursday, as per two sources familiar with the matter at hand, CDP, Italy’s state lender, is set to acquire a stake of up to 5% in Telecom Italia.
The move is aimed at protection Italy’s interest in CDO, whose assets are considered strategic and whose top shareholder is France’s Vivendi, with a stake of just under 24%.
CDP is to decide on this matter today.
