Airbus scouring its global supply chain over Kobe Steel scandal

Airbus has yet to find any suppliers in its global supply chain who’s affected by the Kobe Steel scandal.

As per a spokesman from Airbus, although the company does not source its products directly from Japan’s Kobe Steel, nevertheless, it is checking to see whether any of its suppliers are affected by the false certification scandal.

“So far we have not identified any suppliers that procure materials from Kobe Steel for parts fitted on our aircraft,” said Airbus.

Earlier, Japan’s Nikkei newspaper had reported that more than 30 non-Japanese customers, including Airbus had been affected by the false certification issue at the Japanese firm.
