Acton co-founded WhatsApp with Ukrainian immigrant Jan Koum in 2009. The company was acquired by FB in 2014 for $19 billion.
Facebook announced in a post that Brian Acton, who co-founded WhatsApp, will be leaving the messaging service company in order to start a new foundation.
Acton spent eight years with WhatsApp, which Facebook acquired in 2014 for $19 billion in cash and stock.
Acton, a Stanford alumnus, co-founded WhatsApp with Jan Koum, an immigrant from Ukraine, in 2009.
The duo used to previously work at Yahoo before they started WhatsApp.
