Audi recalls 850,000 diesel powered vehicles to update emission software

The recall also covers VW, and Porsche vehicles which share the same engine.

Volkswagen’s luxury brand Audi is recalling 850,000 diesel cars to update the vehicle software which control its emissions.

The move is strategic since it is aimed at avoiding a potential ban arising out of meeting emission norms.

This service will also apply to Porsche and Volkswagen brands of vehicles which share the same six-and eight-cylinder engines, said Audi in a statement.

As per political and industry sources, the German car industry and the government have agreed on a diesel rescue plan which will be presented later next month in August.
