Tesla adds James Murdoch and Linda Johnson Rice to its Board of Directors

With these latest additions, all eyes are on the success of its mass-market sedan, the Model 3. There is no looking back if the Model 3 is a hit.

Tesla Inc has appointed James Murdoch, the Chief Executive of Twenty-First Centure Fox, and Linda Johnson Rice, the CEO of Johnson Publishing Co, to its board thus increasing its size to nine.

Earlier this month, the company’s investors had approved all five of its proposals, including one that shot down a move to make its directors stand for re-election each year.

Trust Funds and Connecticut Retirement Plans had urged fellow Tesla shareholders to vote for a proposal aimed at the declassifying the company’s board with the argument that “annual accountability can lead to increased company performance.”

Led by Elon Musk, Tesla is betting big on the mass market appeal of its Model 3 whose deliveries are expected to commence next week.
