Toshiba considering selling its stake to Western Digital at its NAND flash memory plant

Although Toshiba is yet evaluating its options, the move will boost its capital base.

As per a source who has been briefed on the discussions, Toshiba Corp is in talks to sell its minority stake in its flash memory business to its U.S. chips business partner, Western Digital Corp.

The move could boost Toshiba’s capital base.

Earlier, Toshiba had stated it was evaluating various options for its memory business, including a spin-off, but had yet to decide on its options.

California-based Western Digital, which manufactures data storage units, operates a NAND flash memory plant with Toshiba in the Japanese city of Yokkaichi in Mie.
