Britain to trigger Article 50 before March 2017

With Theresa May’s government advancing the date by when she intends on triggering Brexit talks, clearly she has a strategy in mind and is keeping her cards very close to her chest. While her flamboyant Brexit minister generates enough noise to mask the signal, her strategy, a deeper understanding of what makes her tick could enable a more meaningful understanding of her strategy once negotiations start.

Britain’s Brexit Minister, David Davis has stated that the country will trigger formal divorce talks with the EU before the end of March.

Earlier Britain’s Prime Minister Theresa May had said she will invoke Article 50 of the EU’s Libson Treaty, which will trigger divorce proceedings, by the end of March 2017, but not before the end of this year.

“We’re aiming to trigger by March 31, earlier if we can,” said Davis to a committee of lawmakers.

In what is likely to be a strategic move, Davis has said May’s government is still to decide how much detail should be disclosed in its letter, which will invoke Article 50 and trigger formal divorce proceedings.
