Chinese recalls IoT enabled products after last Friday’s DOS attack

Hangzhou Xiongmai Technology has issued a recall for only some of its products manufactured before April 2015.

With security researchers having identified the devices through which hackers conducted their attack last Friday, a Chinese company, Hangzhou Xiongmai Technology Co Ltd has come out saying it will recall some of its products sold in the United States.

In a stunning security breach, last Friday, hackers cut the access to some of the world’s best known websites. The attack used IoT enabled common devices including digital recorders and webcams to conduct their attack.

Hangzhou Xiongmai Technology, which makes components for surveillance cameras, said on its official microblog that it would recall some of its earlier products sold in the United States, as well as strengthen default password functions and issue a patch for products produced before April 2015.
