Nokia has strengthened its position as a telecom product manufacturer with this acquisition. Nokia has already partnered with automobile manufacturers for smart cars that make extensive use of IoT. This acquisition could play a role in that equation.
In a strategic move, telecom network manufacturer, Nokia, has disclosed that it has acquired Eta Devices, a U.S.-based start-up which specializes in power amplifier efficiency solutions for network base stations.
“Eta Devices will bolster Nokia’s push to enhance base station energy efficiency, an increasingly important area for operators on the path to 4.9G and 5G,” said Nokia in a statement without disclosing the financial terms.
Founded in 2010, the U.S. based start-up is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It has a research & development section in Stockholm, Sweden.
