Apple reports that the iPhone 7 Plus has been sold out

Consumers who are set to crowd Apple’s brick-and-mortar store should note that they can continue to place orders for iPhones online rather than throng the stores who will not have the phones for sale since they have been sold out.

Apple Inc. has reported that its initial quantities of the flagship smartphone, the iPhone 7 Plus, have been globally sold out. The larger size of its latest smartphone have been exhausted in all shades, while the jet black colour version of the smaller iPhone has also been sold out.

Apple has told customers that given this scenario, its latest offerings will not be available for purchase immediately. They can however continue to place orders for their desired models online.

“We sincerely appreciate our customers’ patience as we work hard to get the new iPhone into the hands of everyone who wants one as quickly as possible,” said Trudy Muller, Apple’s spokeswoman in a statement.

Apple’s latest phones were launched earlier this month. Among the notable features, the built-in cameras have been upgraded to higher specs, while the headphone jack has been ditched in favour of a newer technology.

Breaking with its past practices, Apple has stated it will not release the first-weekend sales of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, since it feels it is a reflection of supply rather than demand.

This non-disclosure has not gone down well with analysts, as they opine that the demand for iPhones, a critical product for Apple, are cooling.

In what could assuage these fears, T-Mobile and Sprint have reported that they have received strong pre-orders for Apple’s latest iphones.

“Based on everything I’ve seen it looks like demand is very strong,” said Jan Dawson, an analyst at Jackdaw Research.
