The move could potential see more voice controlled appliances hitting the market in the near future.
In a development that could potential see Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa in more devices, LG Electronics has disclosed that it is set to partner with Amazon on bringing to the market smart-home services.
In a statement, the South Korean electronics giant has said that Alexa will work with its SmartThinkQ Hub, LG’s device which connects home appliances over the internet, so as to enable consumers to control its home appliances through voice-recognition technology.
Furthermore, for devices which are not IoT compatible, LG will add Amazon’s Dash feature on its SmartThinQ Sensors in order to make them “smart”.
“We will work with a wide range of partners to deliver differentiated smart-home solutions to customers,” said Jo Seung-jin, head of LG’s appliances business, in a statement.
