The move will boost Samsung’s sales of high-end luxury appliances.
South Korean electronics giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has disclosed that it is interested in acquiring Dacor Inc, a U.S. company that manufactures luxury appliances, so as to boost sales of high-end products.
Samsung has made it clear that it will keep the Dacor brand and the company will continue to operate the way it is, after the acquisition.
Samsung has not disclosed the financial terms of the proposed acquisition. However, according to the Korea Economic Daily Samsung is willing to pay $150 million to acquire the California-based company.
According to Traqline, a market research company, during the second quarter, Samsung has topped the sale of electronic appliances in the home appliance sector in the U.S. and has garnered a 16.7% market share, beating rivals such as Whirlpool Corp and LG Electronics.
