Bill Maris, founder and CEO of Google Ventures set to leave the company tomorrow

There have been a series of hi-profile departures from Alphabet Inc.’s projects. What’s brewing at Alphabet Inc.?

Recode has reported citing sources familiar with the matter at hand that Bill Maris, founder and CEO of GV, Alphabet’s venture capital arm, is set to leave the company. Maris is likely to be replaced by David Krane.

A spokeswoman for GV declined to comment on the report.

GV, which was previously known as Google Ventures, was founded in 2009 and has invested in more than 300 companies including, Jet.com and Uber technologies, according to its website.

Recently Alphabet’s projects are witnessing high profile departures: while Anthony Levandowski, product manager of Alphabet’s self-driving car project left earlier this year to found a startup, Chris Urmson, Alphabet’s CTO of its self-driving car project, left last week.

Similarly, Tony Fadell, one of Silicon Valley’s well known executives, who was expected to play a central role in Alphabet’s hardware related efforts, stepped down as Nest’s CEO in June.
