Amazon exploring possibility of using drone delivery tech in UK

According to the Federal Aviation Administration separate regulation will be required before this service can commence in the U.S.

In a significant development, Amazon.com has reported that it has entered into a partnership with the British government so as to speed up deliveries of its products using small drones.

According to a cross government team supported by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, Amazon has laid out plans to use drones for deliveries by 2017.  The aviation authority had provided it with the necessary permissions for exploring the drone delivery process.

In 2015, in a TV show hosted by former Top Gear TV host Jeremy Clarkson, Amazon had showcased a video of how an unmanned drone could delivery packages.

Meanwhile in the U.S., the Federal Aviation Administration said last month that the delivery of packages by drones will require separate regulation.

Incidentally, Wal-Mart Stores has disclosed that it was 6 to 9 months away from using drones for the purpose of deliveries in the United States.
