Musk to unveil part 2 of Tesla’s “masterplan”

This comes after two of its models were involved in two fatal mishaps.

Elon Musk, the embattled Tesla CEO, has tweeted his intention of soon publishing the second part of his “top secret Tesla masterplan”. The tweet reads as the following, “Working on Top Secret Tesla Masterplan, Part 2. Hoping to publish later this week”.

Incidentally, the tweet comes amid enquiries into two incidents of crashes involving Tesla cars as well as Musk’s broader plans of combing his other venture, SolarCity Corp with Tesla Motors.

Earlier this month on July 1, a Tesla Model X crashed into a turnpike guard rail in Pennsylvania. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) it is investigating the incident so as “to determine whether automated functions were in use at the time of the crash.”

According to Tesla, “Based on the information we have now, we have no reason to believe that Autopilot had anything to do with this accident.”

This report comes in the wake of another fatal mishap in Florida that resulted in the death of the driver. Incidentally the Tesla Model S was operating in Autopilot mode at the time of the crash.

Tesla’s autopilot system enables the car to keep itself in the lane and maintain its speed for a limited time without the driver’s inputs.

Earlier in the previous month, with SolarCity going bankrupt, Tesla had proposed to acquire it saying it fits snugly into Tesla Motor’s broader strategy of sustainable energy for business and homes.

Jim Chanos of Kynikos Associates had termed the proposed acquisition as a “shameful example of corporate governance at its worst.”
