Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano has reported that UniCredit is set to name Corrado Passera as its next CEO, sometime next week.
Italy’s biggest bank by asset, UniCredit is all set to name Corrado Passera, a former industry minister as its Chief Executive in the coming week. Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano has reported this citing anonymous sources who are familiar with the matter at hand.
While it was not immediately possible to reach Passera for this comments on this news report, on its part, UniCredit has declined comment.
Due to the bank stretched capital base, its performance in the secondary market has been wanting. Federico Ghizzoni, the outgoing CEO, has been under increasing pressure from investors. Last month, he had agreed to step down as and when his successor is found.
According to the Italian newspaper, UniCredit will name Passera as its CEO, who incidentally also served in the same position at its biggest domestic rival Intesa Sanpaolo ISPI.
However, according to sources at UniCredit the decision of who will the bank’s CEO is still in the works.
