Antitrust regulators in South Africa extend AB-InBev SABMiller deal by 15 days

South Africa’s Competition Commission extends deadline scrutiny for AB-InBev’s acquisition of SABMiller by 15 days.

South Africa’s antitrust authorities have extended the scrutiny period of Anheuser-Busch InBev’s acquisition of SABMiller by 15 days. This is because the competition watchdog needed to further scrutinize the impact of AB-InBev’s $106 billion acquisition of its rival SABMiller.

“The merging parties have agreed to an extension and the new deadline now is the fifth of May,” said Itumeleng Lesofe, a spokesman for the Competition Commission.
